Soy-Based and Vegetable Inks

Traditional oil-based inks release volatile organic compounds as they cure. Soy- and vegetable-based inks do not, and they perform beautifully on letterpress equipment, producing the same crisp, deep-set type our couples expect. We manage this in two ways: precision plate-making that minimizes waste foil per run, and encouraging foil as an accent — a monogram, a border, a single line of type — rather than covering a full page. The result is a suite that still catches the light exactly where it should, produced with a fraction of the material a fully foiled design would require.

One advantage a boutique letterpress studio has over mass digital printing is built into the process itself. Letterpress and foil stamping are run in small, deliberate batches — plates are set for a specific job, proofed, and run only in the quantity ordered. There is no overproduction sitting in a warehouse, and because each piece is meant to be kept as a keepsake rather than treated as disposable mail, the entire category of wedding stationery already sits closer to heirloom object than to packaging waste.

Packaging and Delivery

The choices don't end with the invitation itself. We package finished suites in recyclable and minimally-branded materials, and we size boxes to the order rather than defaulting to excess padding.
